  • Description

Laubuka dadijubori, formerly Chela dadijurbori, and sometimes placed in the genus Dadio on its own. These are a very tiny danio that grow only slightly larger than an inch. Their 'hatchet' name comes from their deep chest and powerful pectoral fins, used for leaping out of the water. This is similar to the hatchetfish of the family Gasteropelecidae from South America, hence the name. These peaceful schoolers mix well with other smaller, community species. Hatchet danios are also tolerant of cooler water, down to around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. These relative newcomers to the hobby are certainly among the most unique options for a small schooling species.

These are subadults, around 3/4"-1" long. They are beginning to develop their colour now; with good food and a bit of time, they will become quite bright.
