Black Ruby Barb

Pethia nigrofasciata is a mid-sized barb from Sri Lanka, reaching just over 2" in length. Females somewhat resemble tiger barbs, but mature males develop deep black bodies with bright red heads. Like other barbs, it should maintained in larger schools, 6-8+ being ideal, to keep any nipping or aggression contained to themselves.

These are juveniles around 0.5-0.75" long. They have yet to develop adult colouration.
